FOXX™ TONE MACHINE™ COMPLETE KIT

A complete kit for a fOXX Tone Machine™ replica, a wild late-'60s fuzz with long sustain and a switchable octave-up.

About the effect

The Tone Machine™ is one of JD's favorite old-time fuzz tones from the 1965-1975 era, loved for its long sustain. This is the same circuit as the "Tone Machine™" section of the original fOXX Fuzz/Wah/Volume pedal, plus its famous octave effect, which you can switch in and out. The original used BC237B transistors; JD tested 2N2222A, 2N3904, PN3565 and 2N5088 and heard no difference in sound. The layout also takes SIP sockets for the transistors, so you can swap and experiment.

What you get

• All the parts and materials you need to build one, including the ready-to-solder PCB.
• Enclosure: 125B, 1590BB, or No Enclosure (everything except the box).
• Dual Switch Options: choose how the octave is switched. Dual Foot Switch gives you a second footswitch for the octave (a separate 2-footswitch, 2-LED wiring layout is provided). Mini Toggle Switch uses a toggle on the enclosure for the octave. The 1590BB enclosure is offered with the dual footswitch option.
