MAESTRO™ FILTER SAMPLE/HOLD REPLICA KIT

A complete kit for a Maestro™ Filter Sample/Hold replica: a synthesizer-style voltage controlled filter and a sample and hold module in one stompbox for guitar, bass and other instruments.

About the effect

This is a synthesizer Voltage Controlled Filter module (envelope filter) and a Sample & Hold module in a stompbox. It's exactly the same circuit as the Oberheim Voltage Controlled Filter. The envelope filter works very well with guitar and bass, and a sample and hold is something you rarely find in a guitar pedal. Note that the Sample/Hold works best on sustained sounds, so using it with a compressor or a heavily sustained guitar sound is recommended.

The schematic lists a 2N3904 for the noise transistor (Q4), but the kit uses a BC182L: GGG found a batch of BC182Ls with noticeable hiss that makes them the best noise source they've tried.
